Never work with either, apparently? Whilst I am not like some who can do amazing photoshoots with kids and adults (a few friends of mine are). I love taking photos of my dogs, deliberatley posed.
Some people don't like pets, or get annoyed with pet hair everywhere, but like so many others my house is a house of pets, a tropical fish tank, a pond full of Koi, but more importantly, my two dogs and a cat...who is a nightmare to photograph being almost all black.
Out of these two, Megan (on the left) is the poser, and will sit as long as you want, Mali however is a dog with which you need a very fast shutter....or after a very long walk. This was taken after a 2 hour walk around Penrhos Woods, Holyhead (photos to follow of that amazing area) and they were literally puffed out.
Dogs, or other pets, enrich your life, whether they are working dogs, pets, or literally family, they can pick up when you are feeling sad or unwell, are so pleased to greet you when you get home (well, they do my wife anyway, with me its more "oh your home" and walk off) I could not imagine having a home without them, they are in your life for such a short time, and the pain that you have when they leave is the same as losing a human companion. If you decide at a later point to get another pet, you're not replacing that lost pet, you are giving another animal a decent loving home.!
